This is my friends perspective of the good Samaritan.

My perspective of the lawyers perspective of the Good Samaritan

Oh, Hello there, you may not recognize me, you see I play a small part in a really big story. Now before I get you confused, I am a Lawyer and at this moment I am about to meet Jesus and question him. Ahh.... there I go getting ahead of my self. Why don't we start at the beginning.....

I didn't really know what to expect when I came to this gathering. I had it in my head that I was going to try to test Jesus in the law. Jesus, who had been speaking with his disciples for a few moments turned away from them. Me, being a lawyer and used to getting strait to the point that exactly what I did. Standing up with ease. I approached Jesus confidently “Master” I said once I was within earshot “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” I couldn't help that I was skeptical, this man was said to be the son of God, again the the lawyer in me was coming out. As I looked into the eyes one of authority and confidence as the said “What is written in the law? How readest thou?” Feeling pride well up inside me I puffed out my chest, being a lawyer certainly had its privileges. I, for one had poured over the scrolls, learning for years! Drawing myself up to my full highth I said “Thou shalt love the lord thy God with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind;and love thy neighbor as thy self”. Jesus looked at me strait in the eye and said “Thou hast answered right, this do,and thou shalt live”. This wasn't going I thought it would at all, I was trying to get the upper hand and make him look bad and he was treating me with kindness and respect! Evasively after wracking my brain I said “And who is my neighbor?” I could tell just by looking at his expression that he had an answer for my poorly asked question. Once He started talking right away I realized that this was a parable. “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was and when he saw him, he had compassion on him. And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to am inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence and gave them to the host and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.” As I was still taking all of this in He continued “Which now of these three, thinkest thou was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?” I immediately answered and said “He that showed mercy on him”. “Go and do likewise” said Jesus, and with that he gathered up his disciples and left. Me on the other hand, my small part in this big story is over.

The Prodigal Son

He went to his father for money he was owed,
“I seek adventure and to be on my own!”
The father looked down, with pain in his eyes,
And watched as the boy quickly rode by.

Laughter and happiness filled all his days!
But, he spent all his money,
 Now were could he stay?

He slept with the swine,
And was beginning to whine.
When all of the sudden,
He found out why.

So he slowly walked back
And thought, “I have gotten off track!”
So he went to his father, and that is a fact

He went to his father, the master
And said “I will work in your pasture
If you forgive me for my disaster!”

But, the father gave him a ring,
And did not treat him like a fiend!
Because there was not a thing

That can keep you from the king!

My Life as a Toad

I bet you think my life is exiting, right? Wrong! My life is dull, and when it is not I’m about to get stepped on, run over or otherwise beat to death in some fashion! Because, if you haven’t noticed, I’m ugly! People literally hate me! Ok, yes I know little boys don’t, but that’s only because their moms do.  You would never believe the ways people have tried to kill me! Like, this one lady took a broom out and started hitting me with it! As I go through my day to day life, I can’t help but think of all the wrong which has been done to me.  One time I got so angry at a little boy who kept picking me up, that I jumped in his hair!   It was hilarious! I was laughing at that one for weeks.  Right now, I live in this really horrible pond.   The beetles are always bugging me, and that is only one of the reasons that I’m leaving! I heard the city has wonderfully clean ponds that have water springing up from the middle!  And people are much nicer there I heard!  It sounds so much better than here!  It’s been about thirty minutes of hopping now and I’m getting tired. But, the city’s in sight so I think I can make it!  I finally got to the city. It’s not as pretty as I thought it was going to be, but I’m sure every thing else is better than the other place!  Then I saw the pond! It was kind of small, and water was not springing up out of it. But, I’m sure the people must be nicer here! Then, I saw a crowd of people; I got up close to the people to see how they would react, and they started to stomp at me! Everything here is awful and I hate it. Now, back home sounds warm and cozy.  I’m so sorry I left! But, I’m going back right now, and I’m never leaving home again!

My Life as an Ice Cream Cone

My life all started in Texas, at the Blue Bell Factory!  I didn't have much of a life. Strawberry really isn't my favorite flavor, but that’s how I was created, so I guess I just have to live with it!  After I was beat to death with like a hundred other strawberries, and churned until I felt like mush, they stuffed me in to a small container and shipped me off.  It wasn't long till my container was opened and this big metal thing started to scrape me out!  This experience was not as fun as I thought it would be, but, the weird part happened when they put me into Cone!  I had never met Cone before, but we became best friends right away.  We did not have much time to live, so we made the most of it.  As we were handed to a young girl, we both knew our lives would end soon.  We learned the girls name was Sally and she often went for ice cream, but never took more than one lick. After that excruciating lick was over, we were given to a little boy.  I soon started to melt, the hot sun beat down on my frosty skin, and I thought it was the end. Then, all the sudden we were taken into a big room that the boy called Mommy.  I thought it was a strange name, but I didn't really care, because I knew my life would end soon.  Cone and I soon found out that Mommy was also the name of a woman who squeezed the little boy!  I thought for sure she was going to kill him by squeezing him that hard, but, he was fine and seemed not to mind it that much.  Then, to my surprise I was put in the freezer and I heard the women say, “You can eat this after lunch.”  But, he did not come back, so cone and I got to watch them for days, as they opened and closed the freezer.  They seemed happy, and the longer I watched, the happier I wanted them to be.   So, when the boy did finally eat me, I was happy that I could make him happy!    The lesson I hope you learn from my life story is, no matter how you are created, you can always make the world just a little happier!

                                                               The Hat

I started out as just some material, now, I’m a beautiful hat.  But not just any hat, I’m what you call a plume hat. I have fanciful flowers, feathers and dainty lace. When I was bought over nine years ago, I never knew how sweaty a women’s head was! It’s not that bad once you get used to it, thankfully!  I loved the days when my woman and I would go to a horse race, or out for a stroll.  But, my favorite time was when we went to the tea parties. I would spend all day talking to tea cups and sugar cubes, trying only to make friends with the sugar cubes at the bottom of the bowl, because the ones at the top would always have a horrible end to their life.  The sugar cubes were always super sweet to me.  I never heard them say a sour word about any one!  Tea cups were always worried about everything.  My woman sat me down next to one, and the poor dear almost screamed!  Then, she started babbling about a crack, a chip or some such nonsense.  After leaving the tea parties, I always felt blue, which doesn't make any sense since I’m purple.  But life goes on.  Autumn was coming up and that meant cooler weather, which meant no more walks or horse track days.  Life would be empty and boring until next spring.  I couldn't help but be sad as my woman put me on the coat rack for, what I knew would be, a very long time.  The only thing that got me through was the thought of spring.  Time slowly went by; month by month I waited, wondering when spring would come again. I would watch the snow fall more and more every day.  When it was not snowing, it was raining.  Oh, how I hated the snow!  But then, as I watched, it seemed to snow less and rain more, then next, more clouds than rain, and at last, more sunshine than clouds.  That’s when I knew spring was coming!   The next day, my woman took me down from the hook, and I got to see the sugar cubes and the tea cups.  Finally, everything was happy again!     Then I heard the greatest news of my life! I would be coming to tea party with my woman every Thursday, even during winter! That’s when I was sure I could get through all those winter days again, because I knew I had all this to look forward to!
